coaching

What is coaching and where does it fit in your life?

If you're anything like me, you probably feel at a loss, stuck, worried or frustrated at times. This may be in relation to yourself, your meditation practice, a situation in your life or in all of the above areas. This is why I wish that coaching was universally available. It can show us the way through and fulfil so many essential needs for us. When more of our needs are met we become happier and more of who we can be. What needs are unfulfilled in you? The need for growth, change, power, inner freedom, peace-of-mind, authenticity, compassion, emotional connection?

How does coaching do this?

Over and over, as a coach, I witness the magical moment when a person connects with themselves in a new way. It’s like fresh air blowing in through a window of the mind. What is felt to be possible and what is felt to be impossible can change in an instant at these times. Suddenly a new landscape reveals itself and the client knows that the change that was needed has happened. This kind of experience can, with a little more coaching, then lead towards real growth and healthy change that benefits you and those around you.

Coaching is a transformative adventure, facilitated by stimulating questions and mind expanding roadmaps. In coaching with me, we explore the depths of body and heart, as well as mind, and this opens up transformation.

The Magic of Transformation

I love the metaphor from Leonard Cohen’s song ‘There is a crack in everything, that’s where the light gets in’. It reminds me of the beauty and tenacity of the human spirit and how it can transform through life’s struggles. The word transformation points to the remarkable human capacity to evolve and grow. Coaching with me focuses on nurturing this potential, but it doesn't stop there. I also bring a friendly, down-to-earth, practical mindset to coaching sessions too, because change may happen slowly and needs to be anchored into real life.

Throughout my many years of adventuring in the landscapes of the human mind, body and heart, I have found the idea of what’s in the way can become the way

to be one of the greatest sources of inspiration and compassion. The Japanese art of kintsugi gives us a metaphor for this - when a pot breaks it is repaired with glue mixed with gold, to create something new and all the more beautiful out of what was broken. If we approach life with this in mind an inner alchemy becomes possible.

My own journey of turning pain into purpose  is a case in point. My chronic headache pain gave me a training in self-awareness, taught me how to surrender to how things are when needed and embedded wellbeing tools into my life. All this feels like an excellent 'qualification' for engaging in my line of work (alongside the formal trainings of course). What aspect of your life, that you feel is holding you back, would you like to turn into an opportunity?
